COMIC GRADING SYSTEM BY FOX AND PANDA COMICS
Fox and Panda Comics Grading Information
At Fox and Panda Comics, we always inspect our comics and all products before they are listed on our online store. Please note this does not happen with Pre-Order Statues - please refer to our Pre-Order terms and conditions for any FAQs regarding Pre-Orders.
All comics are checked over and inspected. This consists of the following below:
• Front cover inspection
• Rear cover inspection
• Inside pages and edges
• Spines and staples
• Comic colour and page colour
• Stains and markings
• Creases and water/liquid damage
Comics that do not meet our standards of condition, for example, have an extreme amount of damage, will not be listed on the online store with the exception of two reasons:
Firstly if it is a Key comic book or secondly an Golden or Silver Age book.
The basic grading scale, also known as letter grades, uses the grades from Near Mint (highest) to Poor (lowest):
• NM Near Mint
• VF Very Fine
• FN Fine
• VG Very Good
• GD Good
• FR Fair
• PR Poor
The ten-point grading scale assigns grades ranging from 10.0 (highest) down to 0.5 (lowest):
10.0 GM Gem Mint
9.9 M Mint
9.8 NM/M Near Mint/Mint
9.6 NM+ Near Mint+
9.4 NM Near Mint
9.2 NM- Near Mint-
9.0 VF/NM Very Fine/Near Mint
8.5 VF+ Very Fine+
8.0 VF Very Fine
7.5 VF- Very Fine-
7.0 FN/VF Fine/Very Fine
6.5 FN+ Fine+
6.0 FN Fine
5.5 FN- Fine-
5.0 VG/FN Very Good/Fine
4.5 VG+ Very Good+
4.0 VG Very Good
3.5 VG- Very Good-
3.0 GD/VG Good/Very Good
2.5 GD+ Good+
2.0 GD Good

The 3 tiers below will be used in our online store comic description. This allows us to upload our comics with an across the board ranking system. (Raw books only)

HIGH GRADE RANK: Colour Code Green
This will consist of the following ranking/grading scales mentioned above
*10.0 GM Gem Mint* 9.9 M Mint* 9.8 NM/M Near Mint/Mint* 9.6 NM+ Near Mint+
*9.4 NM Near Mint *9.2 NM- Near Mint- *9.0 VF/NM Very Fine/Near Mint
MID GRADE RANK: Colour Code Yellow
This will consist of the following ranking grading scales mentioned above
*8.5 VF+ Very Fine+ *8.0 VF Very Fine *7.5 VF- Very Fine- *7.0 FN/VF Fine/Very Fine
*6.5 FN+ Fine+ *6.0 FN Fine *5.5 FN- Fine- *5.0 VG/FN Very Good/Fine
LOW GRADE RANK: Colour Code Red
This will consist of the following ranking grading scales mentioned above
*4.5 VG+ Very Good+ *4.0 VG Very Good *3.5 VG- Very Good- *3.0 GD/VG Good/Very Good
*2.5 GD+ Good+ *2.0 GD Good *1.8 GD- Good- *1.5 FR/GD Fair/Good *1.0 FR Fair *0.5 PR Poor
How are comics ranked within our three (3) tiers?
HIGH GRADE RANK: Colour Code Green
High grading books fall under this category when a comic is extremely well presented and has little to no flaws in the book. Pages are mostly “white” but sometimes can be “off white”. The book may have a slight flaw, a very fine crease, a very fine spine tick or ticks or even a corner mark but only if the rest of the book is in fantastic condition.
It is noted that Fox and Panda Comics take no responsibility regarding other grading companies results on a book that is purchased through our store. Some grading companies can have harsh grading and can drop a book's rating over the slightest flaw. This is why we will never list a book as 10 to 9.8 unless it has been officially graded.
Always review the photos provided and examine the condition yourself. As a customer, you can always request more photos if you wish.
MID GRADE RANK: Colour Code Yellow
Mid grading books fall under this category when a comic is in great condition but won’t meet our expectations of a high grade book. Flaws that would make it fall in our mid grade rank consist of the following: Slight creases across the cover or back of the book, edges may show signs of slight wear and corner damage but not heavy damage.
There may be a slight pen or texter mark on the cover but not a lot to make it fall in the low grade rank. Pages would mostly be “off white” but sometimes can be “white”. Slight wear on the cover or slight yellowing stains due to age. Sometimes these books can increase in grade rank with a press and clean.
Always review the photos provided and examine the condition yourself. As a customer, you can always request more photos if you wish.
LOW GRADE RANK: Colour Code Red
Low grading books fall under this category when a comic is generally in fair or poor condition but mostly poor. Flaws that would make it fall in our low grade rank consist of the following: Big tears or rips in the cover, back page or other pages, heavy creases and marks across the cover, staples missing or cover away from the spine/staples, heavy wear on the edges, marks on the cover such as pen or texter marks.
Low grade books will always be at a lower price and low grade rank books will not be available for any claims via our terms and conditions. Simply by having the low grade rank in our description, you are acknowledging and understanding that the comic book has age damage or damage on the book already and you are aware of that before and during the purchase.

We encourage our customers to ask for more photos of the comic they are wanting to purchase to ensure peace of mind but also maintain high customer satisfaction.

Please note: When asking for photos we ask for you to be kind and patient but also considerate with your request. You can only ask for up to 5 comics at a time to be inspected, with a grace period of 5 business days between lists.
